PARADISE POOL
BLUE MOUNTAINS
Hey strays!
The Blue Mountains is something I know I will never fully conquer, but I’m going to go down fighting. The first of my Bushwalking the Blue Mountains series is a quick little trek! Paradise Pool!
The walk begins in Linden, in the Blue Mountains. There is no designated carpark, or any signage to say you’re in the right place, so listen up. Approximately 100 metres along Railway Parade, off Tollgate Drive, you’ll find a gravel section that can fit a few cars. Go through the gate to the right of the parking area. Although this walk is short, it packs a punch! Straight down on the way there, straight up on the way back. 1.4km each way, the walk starts off with a wide gravel track running behind some houses, and showing off some speccy mountain ranges. After about 500 metres you’ll come to a signpost that says Dawes Park, taking you down a skinnier bush track to the left. Descend. You will come out on top of the giant rock, Paradise Pool is beneath you! Take a few rocky steps down, and you’re there!
The pool is deep enough to swim, and has a sandy bottom so you don’t have to slip-slide your way over algae-coated rocks! This is the kind of walk where you get back to your car, and need another swim from sweating so much. The waterfall is beautiful, and drowns out the sounds of the people you have to share the pool with - huge win!
We visited in April, and it wasn’t exactly secluded. I would recommend an obscure time during a weekday, or early morning on a weekend if you like your peace and quiet!
Stray beautiful,
BEAR.
