BEAR X PLTS CO.
BEAR X PLTS CO.
I sat down with Dani from PLTS CO. to chat about Pilates as a principle, slowing down, the shift from Super Natural Collective to PLTS CO. and some of the best bites in Tassie. Aside from being my cousin, Dani is one of my very favourite people, she doesn’t bend herself to fit other people’s perceptions. Dani is unapologetically herself and one of the reasons I felt brave enough to start BEAR in the first place!
*also she leaves early from every event she has ever been to - don’t take it personally.
Give us an elevator pitch.
Hi, I’m Dani, founder of PLTS CO., educator, and long-time lover of music-led movement.
Teaching Pilates has shaped every part of who I am. It’s given me confidence I never knew I had, helped me find my voice, and built me a life that’s both purposeful and flexible. It’s carried me through every season - from uni student, to full-time teacher, to studio owner, to mum - and I honestly wouldn’t be who I am today without it.
Nearly twenty years later, I’ve taught thousands of classes, trained new instructors, and seen firsthand how movement can shape confidence, change lives, and create community.
After building Super Natural Collective into one of Tasmania’s most recognised Teacher Training programs, PLTS CO. became the natural next chapter - a space that brings everything I love about this work together. Because for me, this has always been about more than Pilates. It’s about people - and how movement connects us, grounds us, and keeps us growing.
Tell us about PLTS CO.
PLTS CO. is a modern Pilates company that’s less about perfect form and more about how you actually feel when you move. We run music-led community classes, teacher training, and workplace programs - all built around the idea that movement should fit real life, not the other way around.
It’s kind of like… Pilates, but with better playlists, less pressure, and a really strong sense of community. Whether you’re coming to a class, training to teach, or bringing Pilates into your workplace, the goal is the same: to help people feel stronger, more grounded, and a bit more like themselves.
PLTS CO. isn't trying to be a studio. We’re building something bigger. PLTS CO. is a reminder that Pilates isn’t just something you do - it’s something that moves you.
Why the shift from Super Natural Collective?
Super Natural Collective was where everything started - it came from my roots as a Naturopath and the first Pilates studio I opened "The Collective Studio", but as we grew, it felt like the brand was trying to hold too many things at once - teacher training, classes, events, workplace wellness...
So PLTS CO. is a refinement. It’s clearer, more focused, and more aligned with what people actually come to us for: really good Pilates, done consistently, in a way that feels accessible and grounded.
What has surprised you the most about teaching others how to teach?
How much of it has nothing to do with Pilates. The biggest shift isn’t learning exercises or anatomy - it’s confidence. Watching someone go from second-guessing every cue to owning the room is the most rewarding part - you realise you’re not just teaching Pilates, you’re helping people step into a completely new version of themselves.
Your pilates playlists are unmatched so I have no doubt you’ll be able to give us 3 epic songs that belong in every road trip playlist…
1. Where The Wild Things Are - Luke Combs
2. An Evening I Will Not Forget - Dermot Kennedy
3. All Too Well (10 minute version) - Taylor Swift
(and yes I realise how random that mix is!)
You’re always relaxed and able to go with the flow. How do you protect your energy?
Before I had my daughter, Murphy, it was daily meditation. Nowadays, it's more about letting go of things that are outside of my control (I'm not very good at it all the time!). Also, moving my body regularly is non-negotiable. It’s the quickest way back to feeling like myself.
What is your dream day? From the time you open your eyes, to the time your head hits the pillow at night.
Slow morning with my girl - coffee at home, no rush. Then a walk with the dog and pushing Murphy on the swing. Teaching a really good class where the energy just clicks, then brunch with Murphy and my partner Alex. Time outside in the afternoon, pottering in our veggie garden that we've just got underway. Dinner with good food, good wine, good company. Home early, shower, bed.
If you could only eat at 3 Tasmanian restaurants, which would you choose and what would you order?
Gigi's Diner - a stack of pancakes or a breakfast muffin - and a large cap
Bar Wa - oysters, kingfish sashimi, smashed pink eyes, etc etc etc
Ranita Ramen - the perfect ramen!
If you had to plan a last-minute escape this weekend, where are you going and what are you doing?
Down to my friends Airbnb "Dune Shack" at White Beach for a sauna then a cold dip in the ocean, then a red wine by the fire (and we'll take the dogs with us!)
You lived in Melbourne for quite a long while – what’s one thing you miss most?
The Tan track - I used to walk it every day. After being back in Tassie for 7 years now, there's not much else I miss about Melbourne. It's the quiet life for me!
Name a destination that you think matches your energy perfectly.
Sunshine Coast I think. We spent some time in Cotton Tree last winter. That was my first winter escape from freezing Tassie and now I can never not escape winter again! Going back this year!
Bonus Q!!!!! Who is your favourite cousin??
This feels like a trap… but given the context, I think I have to say you ;)
